How to Use the Calculator
1. How do I calculate my work hours?
Just do the following:
- Input your starting time (time when you started working)
- Input your ending time (time when you stopped working)
- Your over time and total hours worked will be shown automatically
Note: Input times in 24-hour format, or the calculator will consider 12-hour format with AM/PM.
2. Can I include breaks in the calculation?
Yes. If you took any breaks during the day, like lunch, you can enter the number of minutes spent in the break in the Breaks field. Just enter the start time, end time, and the amount of time spent on breaks.
3. How do I calculate work hours across multiple days?
The hours can be calculated individually for each day and then combined by adding them up. In some models of our calculator, one is allowed to enter more than one day at a time.
4. Does the calculator handle overnight shifts?
Yes. If your shift is beyond overnight (e.g., from 10 PM to 6 AM), the calculation will give you the correct hours. You only need to input the time of day you started working and the time of day when you stopped working.
5. Can I use this for payroll purposes?
While the calculations that the calculator makes are correct, we recommend that you check all calculations with your actual payroll process at work. Laws pertaining to employment, including overtime rules, can differ from one region or even one employer to another.
